Michelle Harrell LPC

Michelle Harrell, LPC, NCC, ED.S. is a solution-focused mental health provider who works with individuals, families, and couples. She is originally from Georgia, where she attended Augusta University to receive her training and degrees, prior to moving to Arizona three years ago. She currently works out of the Cottonwood office location providing in-person and telehealth counseling.
Michelle has more than 5 years’ experience as a mental health counselor. Prior to being a counselor, she was a middle school teacher for 9 years in Title One schools. In addition to teaching and counseling, she has a varied background with different careers ranging from engineering and architecture to massage therapy.  In the early years of her training, Michelle focused on helping children and teens with trauma using play-based and art-based therapy.  She now works with all ages, counseling both individuals and couples.
Michelle has experience working with the following issues: anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, women’s issues, relationship issues, spiritual issues, parenting support and coaching, grief work, LGBTQIA+ issues, self-identity issues, life changes and adjustment, panic disorder, generativity issues, traumatic childhoods, eating disorders, and so on. She also can provide support for wellness goals and life coaching needs.
Michelle has extensive training in many counseling techniques and approaches, and she creates a specialized approach to meet each client’s needs. Some of the techniques Michelle may use include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Sand tray therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Solution-focused approaches, mindfulness, grief therapy strategies, guided imagery, narrative therapy, inner child work and reparenting, Parts work, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Somatic therapy, Qi Gong, and Brain Gym. For her work with couples, Michelle has also completed Gottman Institute’s Level 1 and 2 trainings.
